VEA HISTORY Volunteer Equine Advocates, Inc. was formed in mid 2003. The original incorporators were all concerned citizens whose desire was to improve the lives of equine in Tennessee. The VEA Bylaw's were adopted in August of 2003. The Incorporation documents were filed with the State of Tennessee in December of 2003. The IRS determination letter stating that VEA was approved as an IRS 501c3 tax exempt organization was received in October of 2004. As of September 1st, 2007, VEA has assisted law enforcement agencies throughout Tennessee with 90 equine that were either neglected, abandoned, or found at large. The case involving the largest number of seized equine was 16. The month with the most seized equine included 29 horses and donkeys. The largest scale investigation involved 67 horses. |

| VEA is an all volunteer organization. The Executive Board is made up of 4 officers and 6 directors. All positions are approved by a majority vote of the membership at the annual meeting. Members and guests are welcome to attend all monthly meetings and are encouraged to assist with committee assignments including fundraising, publicity, Foster and Adoption, and Investigations. Monthly meetings are held in the meeting room of the Sumner County Agriculture Extension office on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. All meetings are open to the public. |
